Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 103 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on May 21, 2025 to 5:00 am on May 22, 2025.

Domestic Assault

On the 21st of May at 4:56pm, Belleville Police received reports of loud yelling and screaming coming from a residence in the city’s west end.  It was believed a male and female were engaged in a disturbance.  Police arrived on scene and spoke to the parties involved.  During their investigation, police learned that the male had physically assaulted the female.  The male was also on probation.  As a result of the investigation, police arrested and charged a 40-year-old Belleville man with assault and breach of probation.   He was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Arrest on warrant leads to additional drug charges

On the 21st of May at 11:00am, members of the Belleville Police Community Resource Unit were on foot patrol in the area of the Drop in Centre on South Church St when they observed a female who was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant for failing to attend for fingerprints.  The 45-year-old female of Belleville was arrested without incident.  During the arrest, officers located a quantity of cocaine and fentanyl in her possession.  In addition, officers located two cell phones, $400 cash and a number of dime bags in her possession.  As a result, the female was charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.  She was held for a bail hearing. 

Employee assaulted

On the 21st of May shortly after 9:00pm, police received a call from a business on North Front St. indicating that a staff member had confronted a female who was stealing items from the store.  The female proceeded to spit in the employees face and then started physically swinging her fists at him attempting to further assault the employee.  The female then took off on foot.  Police checked the area however were unable to locate the female.  Police are working with the business in an attempt to identify the female.   The investigation is continuing.
