Drug Arrests

On July 29, 2026, members of the Belleville Police Service Drugs, Intelligence and Street Crime Unit executed two Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrants in the City of Belleville with the assistance of the Belleville Police K9 and Emergency Response Unit.

Belleville Police executed a CDSA search warrant at a local hotel in the Belleville area, arresting two males from the Greater Toronto Area. Both males were taken into custody without incident.

As a result of police investigation, the following persons were arrested and charged:

Daequane Bennett, a 20-year-old Toronto man, was charged with the following offences and held for a bail hearing:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Proceeds of Crime under $5000
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order

Shayne Forrest, a 23-year-old Brampton man, was charged with the following offences and held for a bail hearing:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Proceeds of Crime under $5000
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

As a result, Police seized:

  • $1,440 in Canadian Currency
  • 6 grams of cocaine – roughly 22 ounces
  • 3 cellphones


Shortly after, police arrested a third individual at a local establishment before executing a CDSA search warrant at a downtown location.

As a result of police investigation, the following persons were arrested and charged:

Christy Fry, a 34-year-old Belleville woman, was charged with the following offences and held for a bail hearing:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl
  • Proceeds of Crime under $5000

As a result, Police seized:

  • $980.00 in Canadian Currency
  • 1 Cell Phone
  • 6 grams of Cocaine
  • 1 gram of Fentanyl

 

Intimate Partner Violence

On July 30 at 2:08 a.m., Belleville Police responded to a residence in the city’s west end regarding a domestic dispute.  

Upon arrival, it was reported that a verbal argument had occurred between a male and a female. Upon further investigation, it was learned that in March of 2026, the male had physically assaulted the female by shoving her to the ground.

As a result of the investigation, a 30-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault – spousal
 

He was released on an Undertaking with a court date in September.
