Cenotaph Vandalism

Belleville Police are continuing to investigate vandalism at the cenotaph on Station Street earlier this month.

Shortly before 3:30 p.m. Wednesday October 23, 2024, officers were called to the cenotaph location on Station Street by a resident who observed a female acting suspiciously.

The female was observed spray-painted offensive symbols on a stone monument in the centre of the park before leaving.

Officers searched the area; however, the female suspect was not located.

“Our police service and community support our veterans and find this behavior reprehensible,” said Deputy Chief Sheri Meeks.

“We would encourage anyone who may have witnessed this event or know of the identity of the individual involved to please come forward,” she added.

Anyone with information about the incident or identity of the suspect is asked to contact Const. Conner O’Hara at cohara@bellevilleps.ca

Anyone looking to provide information anonymously is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 613-969-8477 or visit crimestoppersquinte.ca
