Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 105 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on August 20, 2026, to 5:00 am on August 21, 2026.
Investigation Leads to Arrest for Sexual Assault and Assault with a Weapon
On August 5, 2026, an adult female reported to the Belleville Police Service that she had been sexually assaulted and assaulted with a weapon by her former spouse.
Members of the Belleville Police Service Criminal Investigation Division conducted an investigation into the allegations. As a result of the investigation, a 66-year-old Belleville man was arrested on August 20, 2026, and charged with:
- Sexual Assault
- Assault with a Weapon
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Deceased Person Recovered from the Bay of Quinte
On August 20, 2026, at 10:47am, Belleville Police were notified of a deceased person in the Bay of Quinte. Emergency Services attended and recovered the body. The investigation is continuing under the direction of the Chief Coroner’s Office with assistance from members of the Belleville Police Service Criminal Investigation Division.
