Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Charges
On August 11, 2026, at 7:19 p.m., Belleville Police conducted a traffic stop in the city’s west end.
While speaking with the driver and passengers, officers observed an open can of alcohol in the back seat. Upon further investigation, officers also located drug paraphernalia as well as quantities of controlled substances.
As a result of the investigation, the following persons were arrested and charged:
A 56-year-old Arden man was charged with the following offences and held for a bail hearing:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Disobeying order of court
- Possess unmarked cigarettes (Tobacco Tax Act)
- Unnecessary slow driving (HTA)
- Driving a motor vehicle with open container of liquor (LLCA)
A 52-year-old Ridgetown woman was charged with the following offences and held for a bail hearing:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Fail to comply with a probation order
- Outstanding warrants executed
Sally Lawson, a 46-year-old Belleville woman, was charged with the following offences and released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in September:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
Traffic Stop Attempt Leads to Multiple Charges
On August 11, 2026, at 11:26 p.m., Belleville Police observed a vehicle travelling in the area of Dundas Street and Burnham Street and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The driver failed to stop for police and continued driving.
The vehicle eventually pulled into a parking lot, where officers spoke with the male driver. During the interaction, a female attended the area and advised officers that the driver was there to pick her up.
Further investigation revealed that the driver was subject to several court-ordered conditions, including non-communication with the female.
As a result of investigation, a 53-year-old Tyendinaga man was arrested and charged with:
- Failure or refusal to comply with a demand
- Failure to comply with release order X3
- Driving while under suspension (HTA)
- Fail to stop for police (HTA)
- Insecure load (HTA)
- Driver fail to surrender license (HTA)
- Novice driver fail to provide breath sample (HTA)
- Class G1 license holder unaccompanied by qualified driver (HTA)
He was held for a bail hearing.
