West End Dispute Leads to Arrest
On July 7, 2026, at approximately 12:10 p.m., Belleville Police attended a residence in the city’s west end regarding a tenant dispute.
Upon arrival, officers learned that two residents were in the yard when a male tenant began yelling at them from an upper staircase. The male then spat at one of the individuals and subsequently broke a compact disc (CD), throwing fragments toward them.
Upon initial police response, the male remained inside his residence and did not exit in response to officers’ attempts to effect an arrest.
At 3:03 p.m., police re-attended the residence after the same male involved in the earlier incident contacted dispatch repeatedly despite not reporting any emergency.
Upon arrival, it was reported that the male had made additional threats toward the same two residents while pointing a firearm at one of them, and he was also believed to be in possession of a knife.
The male exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident.
As a result of investigation, a 43-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
- Imitation firearm – use while committing offence
- Assault with a weapon
- Assault
- Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm X2
- Public mischief
He was held for a bail hearing.
Threats
On July 7, 2026, at 8:33 p.m., Belleville Police responded to a residence in the city’s west end regarding an ongoing dispute between roommates at a rooming house.
Upon investigation, it was reported that a male resident was repeatedly making threatening gestures and uttering threatening comments toward other occupants, despite being bound by court-ordered conditions prohibiting any communication with them.
The release conditions were imposed following a similar incident in the previous weeks.
As a result of investigation, a 51-year-old Belleville man, was arrested and charged with:
- Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm X3
- Failure to comply with an undertaking X3
He was held for a bail hearing.
Assault
On July 8, 2026, at 12:02 a.m., Belleville Police responded to a residence in the city’s north end regarding a family dispute.
It was reported that a female assaulted her mother by kicking and punching her during an altercation. Upon arrival, officers observed minor injuries to the mother.
As a result of investigation, a 22-year-old Belleville woman, was arrested and charged with:
- Assault
She was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in October.
