Assault and Breach of Probation
On June 11 at 3:56 p.m., Belleville Police responded to a report from an adult male who stated that he had been punched several times in the face, resulting in minor injuries. The victim knew the suspect and provided officers with identifying information. The suspect had left the area before police arrived.
Officers conducted a search of the area and located the suspect. The male initially attempted to flee on foot; however, responding officers quickly converged on him and he was taken into custody without further incident.
During the investigation, police learned that earlier the same day, the suspect had also assaulted an adult female and had breached court-ordered conditions prohibiting contact with her.
As a result of the investigation, a 30-year-old male of no fixed address was charged with one count of assault, one count of spousal assault, and four counts of breach of probation. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Trespass to Property Act
On the 11th of June at 10:17pm, an east end resident returned home to find an unknown shirtless male lying on her front porch directly in front of their entrance door. The resident did not feel safe attempting to get by the male and they chose to remain in their vehicle until police arrived. Upon their arrival, police determined that the male was under the influence of alcohol, unwelcome at this address and lived in the west end of the city. As a result of the investigation, a 30-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged under the Trespass to Property Act. He was lodged at the Belleville Police Service and released when sober.
