Intimate Partner Violence

On May 15th at 10:22am, Belleville Police responded to a residence in the city’s west end regarding a report of a domestic dispute. It was reported that a male and female were involved in a verbal altercation. Further information indicated that a previous dispute between the same individuals had escalated, with the male pushing the female.

As a result of investigation, a 30-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with assault.

He was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in July.

Impaired Driver Evades RIDE Program

On May 16th at approximately 1:00am, Belleville Police were conducting a RIDE program in the city’s east end when officers observed a vehicle make a U-turn and accelerate quickly in the opposite direction. Officers attempted to locate the vehicle and, a short time later, found it on its side in a parking lot. Officers approached and began an investigation.

As a result of investigation, Kelvin Jones, 39-year-old Belleville man, was arrested and charged with:

  • Dangerous operation
  • Operation while impaired

 

He was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in June.

No serious injuries were reported as a result of the collision.

Stabbing

On May 16th at approximately 10:00am, Belleville Police responded to a call for service at an apartment complex in the city’s west end regarding a stabbing.

Further investigation revealed that an altercation occurred between multiple individuals.  Two individuals were transported to hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. 

The Belleville Police Criminal Investigations Division arrested and charged 56-year-old Kyle Allin with:

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Assault with a weapon

He was released on an undertaking with a scheduled court date in June.

Fraud

On January 14th, Belleville Police investigated a fraud. It was reported that an individual had purchased items from a business and later sought a refund and provided personal banking information for processing. It was reported that the employee subsequently attempted to transfer funds from the customer’s account into her own.

As a result of investigation, officers obtained an arrest warrant for the employee for the following offences:

  • Fraud over $5,000
  • Obtaining by false pretence – under
  • Use of credit card
 

On May 16th, Claudia Okal, 26-year-old Belleville woman, was located, and arrested on the strength of the arrest warrant. She was held for a bail hearing.

Intimate Partner Violence

On May 17th at 9:30pm, Belleville Police responded to a residence in the city’s west end regarding a domestic dispute. It was reported that a male and a female became involved in a verbal dispute which escalated when the male slapped the female. It was further reported that the male attempted to restrain the female to prevent her from leaving the residence.

As a result of investigation, a 19-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault
  • Forcible confinement
  • Overcome resistance by attempting to choke, suffocate or strangle another person

He was held for a bail hearing.
