Emergency: 911 ~ Non Emergency: 613-966-0882

BELLEVILLE, ON – The Belleville Police Service is proud to announce the successful implementation of Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1), marking a major step forward in modernizing our emergency response system and enhancing public safety across the community.

NG9-1-1 is a nationwide upgrade that improves how 9-1-1 calls are received and managed. While residents will continue to dial 9-1-1 the same way in an emergency, the new system introduces several important enhancements, including:

  • Faster and more accurate location information
  • Stronger reliability and cybersecurity protections
  • An automated text back feature
  • Improved backup capabilities in case of system failures

The Ontario government has provided over $1.3 million since 2022 to support Belleville Police Service’s transition to NG9-1-1.

In an evolving world where demand for service is increasing, public expectations of transparency are high, and technology continues to advance, Belleville Police Service remains committed to modernization. Upgrades like NG9-1-1 ensure we are prepared to meet today’s challenges while positioning our Service for the future.

These improvements will not change how residents dial 9-1-1. In an emergency, please continue to call 9-1-1 as usual.
