Motor vehicle collision leads to impaired driving charge at 10:00am in the morning

On the 2nd of June at 10:00am, a witness observed a motor vehicle travelling westbound on Bridge St. W at a high rate of speed in the area of Octavia St.  The vehicle proceeded to mount the nearby sidewalk before swerving back onto the roadway where it collided with an eastbound vehicle which was driving properly in its lane.  Hastings-Quinte Paramedics attended and transported the driver of the eastbound vehicle to the Belleville General Hospital.  When police arrived, witnesses pointed out the driver of the westbound vehicle.   Police were familiar with the male and knew him to be a suspended driver.  He was arrested without incident.   During the following investigation, police became aware that the driver of the westbound vehicle was under the influence of alcohol.  As a result, an Approved Screening Device was administered and the driver was subsequently further arrested and transported to the Belleville Police Service for additional testing. At the conclusion of the police investigation, Jesse Scullion, 33-years-old of Belleville was charged with impaired driving and over 80, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failing to comply with a probation order and two counts of driving while suspended.  He was held for a bail hearing.
