It was reported that a vehicle had struck another vehicle in the intersection. Officers spoke to the involved parties and conducted an investigation. It was reported that a male had taken a female’s purse and walked away. When the female attempted to retrieve her property, the male punched her in the face before fleeing the area. Assault with a Weapon On August 25, 2026, at 4:15 p.m., Belleville Police responded to an apartment building in the city’s west end regarding an assault. It was reported that a male assaulted another resident by striking him in the leg with a hammer and spitting on him. During the incident, the male also smashed a window within the building. Following the incident, the suspect returned to his apartment unit. At 5:52 p.m., Belleville Police successfully negotiated with the suspect to exit his apartment unit, and officers took him into custody without further incident.
