Serious Motor Vehicle Collision

On October 19th at approximately 2:57am, police received a report of a serious collision on Old Highway 2 involving a Honda Civic and a Chevrolet Cruze.

When officers arrived, they found both vehicles with extensive damage. Paramedics and fire services were already on scene, and three people had been taken to hospital. One person was in critical condition, and two others sustained minor injuries.

The initial investigation indicates that the Honda Civic, travelling eastbound at a high rate of speed, crossed into the westbound lane and collided head-on with the Chevrolet Cruze at approximately 2:20am.

Breach of Release Order

On October 17th at approximately 5:38pm, Belleville Police responded to a call regarding a dispute between neighbours. Officers spoke with the complainant, who reported ongoing issues with her female neighbour, including unwanted communication.

During the investigation, police learned that the neighbour had an outstanding warrant from the Belleville Police Service for two counts of failing to comply with a release order.

As a result, a 34-year-old Belleville woman was arrested and charged on the strength of the warrant.

She was held for a bail hearing.

Assault

On October 17th at approximately 7:17pm, Belleville Police responded to a report of an assault at a location on Dundas Street East. It was reported that a female had attended a Belleville hospital accompanied by a support person, when she became physically aggressive, spitting at him and throwing a shoe.

As a result of the investigation, a 25-year-old Belleville woman was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Assault
  • Failure to comply with release order
  • Failure to comply with Probation order X6

She was held for a bail hearing.

Indecent Act

On October 17th at 9:56am, Belleville Police received a report of an indecent act that occurred in the area of Moira Street West. It was reported that an unknown male exposed himself to a female on the street before continuing to walk away.

The female victim had recorded the incident on video, and upon review, officers were able to identify the suspect. At approximately 12:00pm, police located the suspect walking along Front Street.

As a result of the investigation, Todd Brown, a 60-year-old Belleville man, was arrested and charged with committing an indecent act.

He was held for a bail hearing.

Break and Enter

On October 19th at 3:48pm, Belleville Police responded to a report of a break and enter in the city’s north end. It was reported that an unknown male had entered a property and was stealing items from trailers.

At 3:54pm, officers located the suspect, who attempted to flee while discarding two bags. Police seized several break-and-enter tools and discovered damage to the property’s fence. Further investigation revealed that the male was currently bound by a probation order requiring him to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

As a result of investigation, Eamon Gunning, 50-year-od Belleville man of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with:

  • Break and Enter
  • Possession of break in instruments
  • Theft under $5000
  • Mischief under $5000
  • Failure to comply with probation order

 

He was held for a bail hearing.

Weapons

On October 19th at 7:01pm, Belleville Police responded to a report of threats from a business in the city’s north end. A staff member reported that an unknown male had pulled out a knife and threatened to stab two employees before fleeing the scene.

Police reviewed video surveillance and began searching for the suspect. At 7:48pm, officers located the male a short distance away. During the arrest, the suspect admitted to stealing a mug from another nearby business.

As a result of investigation, a 50-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon X2
  • Uttering threats X2
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Theft under $5000
  • Fail to comply with probation order X2


He was held for a bail hearing.
