Domestic incident leads to arrest and charges

On the 1st of May at 5:15pm, Belleville Police responded to a report of a domestic dispute currently taking place at a residence in the city’s east end.  Upon arrival, police separated the involved parties and spoke to them individually.  Police also spoke to the caller.  During their investigation, police learned that a male and female engaged in a verbal argument which then became physical when the female physically assaulted the male and proceeded to threaten him with a kitchen knife.  As a result of the investigation, police arrested and charged a 43-year-old Belleville woman.  She was charged with assault and assault with a weapon.  She was held for a bail hearing.

Traffic stop results in criminal charges

On the 1st of May at 2:00am, an officer on patrol observed a vehicle being operated by a driver they knew to be suspended.  Police conducted a traffic stop.  The driver appeared to be impaired by drugs and was arrested.  During the subsequent investigation, the driver refused to complete the testing administered by a Drug Recognition Expert.  As a result, 33-year-old Kayla Parks of Belleville was charged with operation while impaired, refusing to comply with a lawful demand, operation while disqualified, and breach of probation.  She was released on an Undertaking with a court date in June.
