Firearms

On March 6th, Belleville Police attended a residence for police assistance. While at the residence, it was reported that a male was in possession of a firearm and officers located a firearm that was being improperly stored.

As a result of investigation, a 25-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with:

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition

He was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in April.

Warrants

On March 7th at 12:54pm, Belleville Police responded to a report of a male lying on a bike trail in the city’s west end. Upon arrival, officers located the male and learned that he had outstanding Belleville Police Service arrest warrants for failing to attend court, mischief under $5,000, and theft under $5,000.

As a result, Glenn Switzer, 35-year-old Belleville man of no fixed address, was arrested on the strength of the outstanding warrants. He was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in June.

Fail to Comply with a Probation Order

On March 7th at 10:44am, Belleville Police attended an apartment complex in the city’s east end. It was reported that a male who was known to be bound by conditions to not communicate with a female resident was observed in the parking lot.

Officers attended the female’s residence and located the male hiding under a blanket.

As a result, a 30-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with fail to comply with a probation order. He was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court in June.

Impaired Driver

On March 7th at 1:27am, Belleville Police conducted a traffic stop on Church St. Officers spoke to the female driver and observed signs of impairment.

As a result of investigation, Heather Stephen, 31-year-old Belleville woman, was arrested and charged with Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80mg. She was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in April.
