On the 9th of June at 10:30pm, the Belleville Police Service received a call regarding a suspicious male in the parking lot of a business on Bell Blvd. The male was reportedly checking for unlocked vehicles.  Shortly after, police received a second call regarding a male fitting the same description who was now causing a disturbance at a local hotel.   Police attended and identified the male as 52-year-old David Robertson of no fixed address.  During their investigation, police discovered that Robertson was wanted on an arrest warrant from the Belleville Police Service for breaching a probation order.  Robertson was subsequently arrested on the strength of the warrant and held in custody for a bail hearing.

Traffic stop leads to drug possession and impaired driving charges

On the 10th of June at 12:30am, an officer on patrol in the city’s east end conducted a traffic stop after observing the vehicle driving erratically.  During the traffic stop, the officer observed a quantity of suspected cocaine in possession of the driver.  As a result, 25-year-old Amanda Carlton of Belleville was placed under arrest.  During the investigation, officers believed that Carlton was also operating the vehicle while under the influence of a drug.  She was subsequently further arrested for impaired operation of a conveyance by drug.  A demand was made for Carlton to participate in a drug recognition evaluation; however, she refused to comply which is a criminal offence.  At the conclusion of the investigation, Carlton was charged with possession of a Schedule I substance – cocaine, refusing to comply with a demand and operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs.  She was released on an Undertaking with a court date in July.
