Emergency: 911 ~ Non-Emergency: 613-966-0882

BELLEVILLE, ON — We are incredibly proud to share that A/Sgt. Jeff Sarley of the Belleville Police Service has been awarded the 2024 Ontario Medal for Police Bravery, the province’s highest honour for heroic service.

On September 21, 2024, A/Sgt. Sarley put himself directly in harm’s way to stop a dangerous impaired driver, escaping seconds before his cruiser was hit and then immediately returning to arrest the offender.

His courage, quick action and commitment to public safety prevented what could have been a devastating tragedy and reflects the highest standards of policing.

We also proudly recognize the 14 additional police officers and nine firefighters across Ontario who received bravery medals for risking their lives to save others. Their heroic acts are a testament to the bravery and dedication of first responders across our province.

To all recipients, and to all who serve with courage every day: you are the true heroes of our communities.
