Belleville Police Seek Public Assistance in Identifying Dangerous Motorcycle Rider

The Belleville Police Service is asking for the public’s help in identifying a dangerous motorcycle rider. On April 3rd at approximately 6:00pm, officers observed a motorcycle speeding on Old Highway 2. The rider failed to stop for police and continued to drive at excessive speeds.

The motorcycle is a black Yamaha MT with a noticeable dent on the gas tank. The licence plate is obstructed and not visible. The rider is a male who wearing black tactical-style boots, black cargo pants and a black sweater with white writing on the front and back.  The rider wore a full-face helmet with a white emblem on the top.  The motorcycle was last seen eastbound past Point Ann Lane.

Impaired Driver

On April 3rd at 2:23am, Belleville Police responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver after a male was seen slumped over in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers found the vehicle parked with the engine running. They knocked on the driver’s side window to wake the male and observed signs of impairment.

As a result of investigation, Matthew Fennell, 41-year-old Selby man, was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Careless driving (HTA)

He was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in May.

Impaired Driver

On April 3rd at 6:55pm, Belleville Police responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver in the city’s west end. Upon arrival, officers located the driver, spoke with him, and observed signs of impairment.

As a result of investigation, Leo-Paul Phillips, 64-year-old Belleville man, was arrested and charged with Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg and Operation while impaired – alcohol. He was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in May.

Warrants

On April 3rd at approximately 11:00pm, while attending a call for service at a business on Dundas Street East, Belleville Police observed a male enter the premises unrelated to the original call. Officers spoke to the male, and upon investigation, discovered he had outstanding arrest warrants from the Belleville Police Service for disobeying a court order, mischief under $5000, assault – spousal, unlawfully in dwelling house and robbery with violence.

As a result, a 25-year-old Belleville man was arrested on the strength of the warrants and held for a bail hearing.

Warrants

On April 5th at 1:01am, Belleville Police responded to a business on Dundas Street West regarding an unwanted person. Upon arrival, officers located the male and, following further investigation, discovered that he had outstanding Belleville Police Service arrest warrants for breach of Probation, fail to attend court X2, theft under $5000, mischief under $5000, break and enter.

As a result, Tyler Bonter, 41-year-old Belleville man of no fixed address, was arrested on the strength of the outstanding warrants and held for a bail hearing.  

Mischief

On April 5th at 5:17am, Belleville Police responded to a report of an unknown woman causing damage to a business door in the city’s west end. Upon arrival, officers spoke the female and as a result of investigation, Jessica Cruse-White, 28-year-old Belleville woman, was arrested and charged with:

  • Mischief under $5000
  • Fail to comply with a probation order
 

She was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in June.

Assault

On April 5th at 7:37am, Belleville Police responded to a call for service at a residence in the city’s west end. Upon arrival, it was reported that a verbal altercation took place and escalated with a female striking another female in the face with a flashlight.

As a result of police investigation, Cherie Brown, 55-year-old Belleville woman, was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon. She was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in July.

Robbery

On April 5th at 2:41pm, Belleville Police Service responded to a business on Old Highway 2 following reports of an attempted theft. It was reported that an unknown male attempted to steal an RV from the property. Witnesses observed the incident and intervened, at which point the suspect fled in a truck, striking three vehicles and causing damage to the vehicles and the RV. The truck eventually collided with a pole before the suspect fled on foot but was stopped by witnesses until police arrived.

As a result of investigation, Jason Fleury, 43-year-old Hamilton man, was arrested and charged with:

  • Robbery with violence
  • Dangerous operation
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

 

He was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in June.

Domestic Dispute

On April 6th at 9:47pm, Belleville Police responded to a report of a domestic dispute in the city’s east end. Upon arrival, it was reported that a verbal argument had escalated, with a male making threats toward a female and throwing a remote at a television, causing damage to the screen.

As a result of investigation, a 36-year-old Belleville man, was arrested and charged with:

  • Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm
  • Mischief under $5000
  • Fail to comply with a probation order


He was held for a bail hearing.
