BELLEVILLE, ON – The year 2026 marks a significant milestone for the Belleville Police Service (BPS) as it celebrates its 190th anniversary. The official anniversary date is June 18, 2026, commemorating nearly two centuries of service to the Belleville community.

As the anniversary approaches, we are excited to share pieces of our history and to tell stories that belong not only to the Service, but to the entire Belleville community.

To help bring that history to life, the Belleville Police Service, in collaboration with Glanmore National Historic Site, is organizing a public historical display at the museum and is issuing a call for artifact donations from the community.

Photographs, documents, memorabilia, and other historical items offer a powerful way for stories to live on. Community members who may have police-related historical items are invited to consider donating them for inclusion in the exhibit and for long-term preservation in one of the City’s historical repositories where the public can continue to learn from and enjoy them.

Please note:

• All donated items become part of the public record and may be held by Glanmore National Historic Site’s Regional Collection or the Community Archives of Belleville and Hastings County.
• Once donated, items are no longer in the possession of the donor.
• Firearms or weapons will not be accepted.

Beyond the historical display, the Belleville Police Service will commemorate its 190th anniversary through a variety of activities and initiatives throughout 2026. More information on how the community can join in these celebrations will be shared in future communications.
