BELLEVILLE, ON — The Belleville Police Service, in partnership with the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) and the Government of Ontario, is proud to take part in Ontario’s annual Crime Prevention Week, running from November 2–8, 2025.   This year’s theme, “Working Together to Protect Ontario,” emphasizes that crime prevention is everyone’s responsibility—it takes the combined efforts of police, government, community partners, businesses, and residents to protect our neighbourhoods.   “Community safety is everyone’s responsibility,” said Chief Murray Rodd. “Crime prevention starts with awareness and action. CORE+ Initiative Expands to Strengthen Community Safety

BELLEVILLE, ON Building on the success of its summer Community-Oriented Responsive Enforcement (CORE) initiative, the Belleville Police Service is launching CORE+, an enhanced enforcement and community engagement strategy to further support safety and well-being in the downtown area. CORE+ aligns with the City of Belleville’s broader efforts to address addiction, mental health, and homelessness. Welcome home, Cst. Aaron Gauthier

BELLEVILLE, ON – The Belleville Police Service is proud to welcome home Cst. Aaron Gauthier following his recent deployment to Latvia with the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF). Cst. Gauthier has served his community since becoming a member of the Belleville Police Service in December 2022. In addition to his policing work, he served his country as the Crew Commander of a medical team as part of Operation REASSURANCE. Between January to September 2025, Cst. Gauthier was deployed to Latvia with a CAF-led multinational battlegroup based at Camp Adazi. Fully integrated with the Latvian Land Forces, this battlegroup included artillery, mechanized infantry, and specialized support units. Together, they conducted joint training exercises, maintained a strong deterrent presence, and remained prepared to respond to any potential threats. We are incredibly proud to have Cst. The Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment Marks 80th Anniversary of WWII

BELLEVILLE, ON – On October 4th, the Hastings and Prince Edward Regimental Association, known as the “Hasty P’s,” held a ceremony at St. Thomas’ Anglican Church in Belleville to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War and the Regiment’s return home. The ceremony honoured approximately 3,500 soldiers who served with the Regiment between its landing in Sicily on July 10, 1943, and the end of the war in 1945. Dignitaries, veterans, family members, and representatives from Belleville, Peterborough, Cobourg, and surrounding communities gathered to read the names of every soldier, including those who were killed in action. As tradition holds, members of the Regiment who have passed on, even years after they’ve hung up their uniform, are said to have transferred to the White Battalion – an arm of the Regimental Family that honours the memory of all Hasty P’s.
