Belleville Police Service responded to 81 calls for service from the 22nd of September 2020 at 5:00 a.m. to the 23rd of September 2020 at 5:00 a.m.

Disturbance Calls

Belleville, ON – On the 22nd of September at approximately 9:45 p.m. and within minutes of each other police received two calls for service to assist paramedics which both involved alcohol and blows to the head. Police attended Station St. after a father and son became embroiled in a physical altercation where the son allegedly struck the father in the head with a bong resulting in a sizable cut. The male left the residence and called EMS. When he became aggressive with paramedics police were contacted. The male eventually calmed himself and was transported to Belleville General Hospital by ambulance where he received treatment for his cut and released. Police also attended the residence and spoke to the son in relation to the incident. Three minutes later a call was received to a Cannifton Rd. apartment where friends who had been drinking together got into an altercation resulting in one of the males sustaining a superficial cut to his head. Police were not able to confidently arrive at a conclusion as to what circumstances resulted in the injury largely in part due to the alcohol consumption. The male was taken to Belleville General Hospital for observation as it was also unclear as to whether or not he had lost consciousness during the incident. Both incidents are currently still under investigation.

Motor Vehicle Collisions

Belleville, ON – Police received five calls for service in relation to motor vehicle collisions during the past 24 hours, three of which were referred to Belleville’s Collision Reporting Center and one being a minor parking lot accident. At 11:26 a.m. on the 22nd of September police were called to the area of Sidney St. and Moira St. regarding a personal injury accident where a motorcycle was driven into a guardrail. The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation by The Belleville Police Service Traffic Safety Unit. A 74-year-old female who was operating the motorcycle was taken to Belleville General Hospital for assessment of minor injuries.
