The Belleville Police Service responded to 81 calls for service from September 18th, 2020 at 5:00 a.m. to September 19th, 2020 at 5:00 a.m.

Three Vehicle Collision

Belleville, ON – September 18th, 2020 – 12:05 p.m.

City police were dispatched to a three-vehicle collision on Cannifton Rd. North in the North bound lane involving substantial damage to the vehicles.  However, no injuries were reported.  Two different tow crews had to attend the scene to clear the roadway of the vehicles and debris.

A 27-year-old female from Plainfield was charged with one count of Careless Driving under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act. 

Family Disturbance

Belleville, ON – September 18th, 2020 – 3:45 p.m.

City police received a call about a family disturbance at a West end residence involving a father and son.  Upon police arrival, officers found the two adult males in a physical confrontation.  Officers were able to separate the two men.  The younger of the two males was still being confrontational with police and family members. 

A 31-year-old Belleville man was arrested regarding the disturbance and was transported to the Belleville Police Service.  Alcohol was a factor in this incident.  The man was later released after he sobered up.  No charges were laid. 

Motor Vehicle Collision

Belleville, ON – September 18th, 2020 – 8:10 p.m.

City police responded to a two-car motor vehicle collision on Bell Blvd in front of Canadian Tire.  Police report no injuries but heavy damage to the vehicles involved.  Tow recovery units attended the scene to remove the vehicles and the debris from the roadway.  The east bound lanes were closed for approximately 20 minutes while clean up crews cleared the wreckage. 

A 53-year-old woman from Thomasburg was charged with one count of Improper Left Turn under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act. 

Trouble with Youth

Belleville, ON – September 19th, 2020 – 12:30 a.m.

City police received an assist call from city EMS regarding a group of youth acting up in the East end with possible injuries.  Officers attended the area of Pine St. and Humewood Dr. and found a group of youth in the area.  Officers also found one youth suffering from a minor head injury.  The investigation revealed that the youth were daring each other to perform some sort of physical acts that was not specifically made clear to police or EMS.  However, one youth was transported to the Belleville General Hospital via EMS for precautionary purposes.  The youth were dispersed and no charges were laid. 

Domestic Assault

Belleville, ON – September 19th, 2020 – 1:00 a.m.

Belleville Police received a 911 call from a youth at a residence townhouse located in the East end of the city advising that his father was assaulting his mother.  Officers arrived on scene within minutes and located all parties involved.  The victim received minor injuries however did not require medical attention. 

The accused, a 46-year-old Belleville man was charged with one count of assault and was released on his own recognizance.  The accused is scheduled to appear in court on October 5th, 2020.  The name of the accused is not being released to protect the identity of the victim and youth family member.
