Belleville Police Service responded to 58 calls for service from the 13th of September 2020 at 5:00 a.m. to the 14th of September 2020 at 5:00 a.m.
Impaired Driver
Belleville, ON- On 13 September at 4:00 a.m. police stopped a vehicle after an officer observed it being driven aggressively and at high rates of speed on Sidney Street. Police spoke with the driver who displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol. The roadside screening device was administered which the driver failed. He was subsequently arrested and transported to The Belleville Police Service where he provided further breath samples into an intoxilyzer which read over the legal limit. 24-year-old Trenton resident Collin Veley was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration of over 80mgs of alcohol in 100 mls of blood. He was released on an undertaking and will appear in court on the 8th of October to answer to the charge.
Single Motor Vehicle Accident
Belleville, ON – On the 13th of September shortly before 2:00 p.m. police responded to a single motor vehicle accident on Hwy 2, east of Elmwood Dr. A GMC pick-up truck with four occupants was travelling eastbound on Hwy 2 when it lost control rolling over a number of times and shearing a utility pole off before coming to rest. The Belleville Fire Department and Paramedics were called to the scene as well with reports of trapped occupants. Three of the four occupants were transported to Kingston General Hospital with serious injuries and the fourth was taken to Belleville General Hospital. The cause of the accident and other circumstances are still under investigation and Belleville Police are asking for the assistance from the public.
