The Belleville Police responded to 62 calls for service between 5:00 a.m. on the 12th of September 2021 and 5:00 a.m. on the 13th of September 2021.
Stolen Vehicle Recovered
Belleville ON-On the 12th of September 2021 at 4:00 p.m. an officer on patrol stopped a pickup truck in an east end parking lot. Further investigation revealed that the truck had been reported stolen from the Haliburton area. The driver was also found to be in possession of fake identification and other documents identifying him as another person. Once his true identity was confirmed, the 40-year-old was found to currently have a number of outstanding charges. As a result of the investigation the driver is being charged with Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 contrary to section 354(1)(a), Personation with intent to avoid arrest contrary to section 403(1)(d), Identity theft contrary to section 402.2(1) and Possession of forged documents contrary to section 368(1)(d) and Possession of Break in instruments contrary to section 351(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada. The male is being held for a bail hearing on the 13th of September 2021.
Bail Violations
Belleville ON-On the 12th of September 2021 at 3:30 p.m. an officer on patrol observed a female in the area of Dundas Street and Albert Street who they knew was currently wanted from another jurisdiction. The female was arrested and it was determined that she was currently breaching two of her current release conditions. As a result, the 58-year-old female is being charged with two counts of breaching her release order contrary to section 145(5)(a) of the Criminal Code. The female is being held for a bail hearing on the 13th of September 2021.
Prohibited and Suspended Drivers
Belleville ON-On the 13th of September 2021 at 315 a.m. officers stopped a vehicle in the West end of the city. Officers noticed at the same time another vehicle pull off the road nearby. Officers determined that the stopped vehicle was being operated by a male who was prohibited from driving Canada wide. 59-year-old Scott Tufts of Belleville was charged with prohibited driving contrary to section 320 of the Criminal code and given an October 28th court date. Officers attended the second vehicle and identified the driver and confirmed he had been charged by Belleville Police with driving while suspended 12 hours earlier. The 58-year-old Quinte West resident was again charged with driving while suspended contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act and released with an October 4th court date.
