The Belleville Police Service responded to 67 calls for service from September 9th, 2020 at 5:00 a.m. to September 10th, 2020 at 5:00 a.m.
Harassment / Dog Bite
Belleville, ON – On September 9th, 2020 at approximately 11:45am, city police were dispatched to a south west residence in regards to harassment involving a possible dog bite. Upon arrival police spoke to the complainant, a 51-year-old Belleville woman who advised the officers that she’s been having ongoing issues with another female tenant in the building who has been constantly harassing her. The complainant also advised that on this date, the suspect followed her down the street and sent her dog after her causing some minor injuries to the complainant’s leg. Medical attention was not required.
The suspect had left the area prior to police arrival and could not be located at the time. The investigation is continuing and possible charges may be pending.
Warrants
Belleville, ON – On September 9th, 2020 at approximately 12:05pm, city police were on Union Street when they came across a male known to them to have an arrest warrant out of the Bancroft area. The 57-year-old Belleville man was arrested on the outstanding warrant and turned over to the Bancroft, Ontario Provincial Police without incident.
Via Rail Disturbance
Belleville, ON – On September 9th, 2020 at approximately 1:30pm, Belleville Police received a call for assistance from the CN Rail Police regarding a woman causing a disturbance on a Via train who may have been suffering from mental health issues. City officers attended the rail yard and contacted the female. Belleville officers were able to assist in calming the 48-year-old woman down who was from the York Region. Police assisted the woman to the Belleville General Hospital where she received medical care.
Residence Disturbance
Belleville, ON – On September 9th, 2020 at approximately 2:30pm, Belleville Police were dispatched to a south west end residence complex at the request of residence security regarding a disturbance regarding two intoxicated males. When officers arrived, one male had the other male pinned up against the wall. Officers intervened securing both men who were intoxicated, however, one far worst than the other. City EMS were dispatched to attend due to the large amount of alcohol consumed by the one man. Officers were concerned that the young man may be suffering from alcohol poisoning. One of the males involved calmed down and was cooperative with police and was released on site back into his residence. However, the other gentleman became assaultive with the responding EMS attendants.
Officers arrested the man under the Liquor Licence Act for his own protection and the protection of the EMS workers and secured him to the stretcher. Officers attended with EMS to the Belleville General Hospital, with an officer riding in the EMS vehicle. The young man was medically treated due to the large amount of alcohol in his system. No charges were laid due to either man involved in the altercation wanting to make a complaint. Both men were from the Kingston area and were 21 years of age.
Missing 7-Year-Old / Located
Belleville, ON – On September 9th, 2020 at approximately 6pm, police received a call from a frantic mother at a south end residence that her 7-year-old son was missing. Police received information that the little boy was at his grandmothers house a few blocks from his home but had left to return to his residence on his scooter but never arrived. Numerous officers attended the area to help locate the young lad. The family residence was strictly searched by officers but the boy was no where to be found in the house.
Approximately 45 minutes later, an officer located the young boy on his scooter a block away from his home. Officers returned to the child to his parents without incident.
Theft
Belleville, ON – On September 9th, 2020 at approximately 7pm, city police were dispatched to a Thurlow Township, newer residential area regarding two males entering onto a residential porch and remove what appeared to be delivered packages to the home owners. Police say witnesses observed the two male suspects enter a park area located at Farnham road and Kipling Avenue after the theft. A grainy video was obtained and police are still investigating.

Traffic Enforcement
Belleville, ON – on September 9th, 2020 at approximately 9pm, a city officer conducted a traffic stop on Church Street for a defaced licence plate. Upon further investigation, the officer found that the driver was operating the motor vehicle with no insurance.
A 28-year-old Belleville was charged with the following;
- Operate Motor Vehicle – No Insurance (compulsory Automobile Insurance Act)
- Owner Deface Licence Plate (Highway Traffic Act)
The driver is scheduled to appear in Provincial Offences Court to answer to his charges on October 5th, 2020. The car was seized and removed from the location via recovery tow.
