Disturbance at Grocery Store
Belleville, ON – October 4th, 2020 – 11:00 a.m.
City Police attended a north end grocery store regarding a disturbance. Upon police arrival, the investigation revealed that a patron became upset with a store employee because the store employee was within 6 feet of the patron. The male patron struck the employee with his cane which prompted the store to contact police.
Officers were advised that the patron was pulling away in his vehicle which was subsequently stopped by other officers. A 61-year-old Belleville man was trespassed from the store as per the managers request.
Theft from a Business
Belleville, ON – October 4th, 2020 – 2:30 p.m.
Police received a report that an unknown suspect entered a downtown business through a rear employee door that was propped open. Once inside, the suspect entered an employee back room and stole a backpack that contained prescription medication, a wallet with a large amount of cash and identification.
Police report that approximately three other similar incidents have occurred across the city at different businesses over the last 24 hours. Police suspect that the same suspect is involved. Assault with a Weapon
Belleville, ON – October 4th, 2020 – 10:00 p.m.
Belleville Police received a complaint earlier yesterday from a victim that he was assaulted the day prior by a male known to him. The victim advised police that the suspect struck him with a shovel during an argument. The suspect in the case is known to the Belleville Police. Officers located the suspect at 10pm last night at the corner of Moira St W and Sidney St. The accused was taken into custody without incident.
The 37-year-old Belleville man was charged with one count of Assault with a Weapon and one count of Breach of Probation and was held in custody for a show cause hearing scheduled for October 5th, 2020.
