Damage to Business
Belleville, ON – October 3rd, 2020 – 6:30 a.m.
City police attended a downtown business on Front St. regarding damage to a store window. The investigation revealed that the business windowed appeared to be shot out with a pellet gun by the suspect. A Belleville Police scenes of crime officer was on scene as well collecting evidence. The investigation is continuing.

Drive Suspended
Belleville, ON – October 3rd, 2020 – 10:30 a.m.
A Belleville police officer conducted a traffic stop on Bridge St W at Watson Crt. The vehicle stop investigation revealed that the male driver was under a driving suspension within the province of Ontario.
The 38-year-old Belleville man was charged with Operation of a Motor Vehicle While Under Suspension contrary to the Ontario Highway Traffic Act. The accused will appear in Provincial Offences Court on November 2nd, 2020 to answer to the charge. The vehicle was seized at the roadside.
EMS Assist / Warrants
Belleville, ON – October 3rd, 2020 – 12:30 p.m.
Police responded to a south east residence at the request of City EMS regarding a male who was in possession of a knife threatening to harm himself. Officers attended the scene and found that the suspect male was not in possession of a knife and there was some miscommunication between the caller and EMS dispatch.
However, the male in question was known to police and a records check confirmed that the male had an outstanding warrant for his arrest that was presently before the courts. 26-year-old Benjamin Bellerive was arrested and charged for one count of Failing to Comply with a Probation Order. The accused was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to attend court on November 5th, 2020 to answer to his charge.
Residential Disturbance
Belleville, ON – October 3rd, 2020 – 1:00 p.m.
Police dispatch received a number of 911 calls to a north east residential townhouse complex regarding an irate male who was said to be in possession of a large knife causing a disturbance. Numerous officers attended the residence within minutes to find a large group of people at the location screaming. Officers determined that the suspect who discarded the knife as police arrived, was suffering from some mental health issues. Officers on scene were able to calm the 19-year-old male down and safely take him into custody. Officers assisted the young man to Belleville General Hospital where he received care and treatment. The investigation revealed that the young man never made any threats to anyone with the knife and no charges were laid.
