Extortion and Threats
Belleville ON-On the 13th of October 2021 Belleville Police began an investigation regarding an ex-partner who had been threatening a Belleville resident and attempting to extort money from them. Based on the investigation a warrant was issued for the partners arrest. On the 22nd of October 2021 Halton Police arrested the wanted male in Oakville. As a result, the 33-year-old Oakville resident was charged with extortion contrary to section 346(1.1)(a) and uttering threats to cause death contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada. The male was held for a bail hearing in Belleville on the 23rd of October 2021. Due to the domestic nature of the incident the name of the accused will not be released.
Belleville ON-On the 22nd of October 2021 at 820 a.m., a Belleville police officer on patrol stopped a motor vehicle on Cannifton Parkway at McFarland Avenue. A check of the driver revealed her driver’s license was currently suspended and she was unable to provide any valid insurance for the vehicle. As a result, the 25-year-old Corbyville resident was charged with driving while suspended contrary to section 53(1), driving a motor vehicle with no currently validated permit contrary to section 7(1)(a) of the Highway Traffic Act and operating a motor vehicle on a highway with no insurance contrary to section of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act. The driver was given a December 7th 2021 court date.
Belleville ON-On the 22nd of October 2021 at 10:00 p.m., a Belleville police officer on patrol stopped a vehicle on Benjamin Street regarding plates not associated to the vehicle. As a result of the investigation the 17-year-old driver was charged with operating a motor vehicle with no license contrary to section 32(1) and using plates not authorized for the vehicle contrary to section 12(1)(d) of the Highway Traffic Act. A 17-year old passenger was charged with being the owner of a motor vehicle and permitting it to be operated with no insurance contrary to section 2(1)(b) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act. Another 17-year-old passenger was additionally charged with possessing cannabis while being under 19-years-old contrary to section 10(1) of the Cannabis Control Act. The driver and passengers were given a court date of December 7th 2021.
