The Belleville Police Service responded to 70 calls from May 8th 2021 at 5:00 a.m. to May 9th 2021 at 5:00 a.m.
Arrested on Warrants
Belleville, ON – On May 8th 2021 Police attended a residence in the East end of Belleville regarding a stolen property. Officers were able to located the suspect a short distance away and identified the male as 38-year-old Daryl Verner. Further investigation revealed that there were outstanding warrants for two accounts of failing to attend court. Mr. Verner was arrested on the warrants and transported to Belleville Police Service and held for a bail hearing on May 9th, 2021.
Domestic Assault
Belleville, ON – On May 8th, 2021 at 2:41 p.m. Officers were called to a west end residence regarding a report of domestic violence. Police spoke to the female victim who advised that her boyfriend had assaulted her and left prior to Police arrival. Further investigation revealed that the male returned to the Durham Region. Information was provided to the Durham Regional Police Service regarding the 53-year-old male being wanted by Belleville Police for domestic assault. A short time later Durham Regional Police advised that they had the male in custody. The male was returned to Belleville Police Service where he will be held for a bail hearing on charges of domestic assault and breach of probation on May 9th, 2021.
City Police also report a fairly steady 24-hour period ending at 5:00 a.m. on May 9th, 2021. Police did respond to several incidents that ended peacefully with Police intervention. Those incidents included numerous noise complaints, disturbances, domestics, suspicious persons and vehicles, traffic complaints, neighbour and family disputes, animal complaints, and calls to assist ambulance.
