Thefts in the City

Belleville, ON – On May 6th 2021 at 9:18 a.m., police were called to the Meyer’s Pier area for a report of a theft of a licence plate from a trailer.  The theft was discovered just prior to this.  The plate is numbered M5661C.  There are no suspects.  Investigation into the matter is continuing, and police are asking anyone who may have information to please contact them at (613) 966-0882 or by calling Crime Stoppers at (613) 969-8477.

A second theft was reported on May 6th 2021 at 1:15 pm.  The caller advised police that during the morning unknown suspect(s) stole a package of prescription cannabis from a home in the south-west area of the city.  An investigation into the matter is continuing, and police are asking anyone who may have information about this to please contact investigating officer Cst. Mischief

Belleville, ON – On May 6th 2021 at 3:39 p.m., police received a call about a male who had smashed a window at an address in the Tripp Avenue and Moira Street West area.  Police have received video surveillance to work with, and are using this in an attempt to identify the male. The investigation into this matter is continuing. Police are asking anyone who may have information about this to please contact investigating office Sgt. Domestic Assault

Belleville, ON – On May 6th 2021 at 11:20 p.m., police were called to a home in the Sidney Street area for a report of domestic assault.  Responding officers investigated, and found that a man had physically assaulted his female partner.  The man left the scene of this incident in a motor vehicle.  He was located a short time later and arrested.  The 33-year old city man, who is not being identified in order to protect the identity of the victim, was taken into custody.  He was charged with one count of domestic assault contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code. He was later released on a Form 10 undertaking with strict conditions, and to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on June 7th 2021.  The female did not suffer any serious injuries.

Heavy Police Presence in Cannifton Road North

Belleville, ON – Belleville Police are currently investigating a situation in the Cannifton Road north area.  On May 7th at 1:34 a.m., police responded to a man with a serious injury on Cannifton Road.  EMS was called and provided assistance to the injured person, who was transported to Belleville Hospital and then to Kingston for further treatment.  The Belleville Police Service’s Emergency Response Team was deployed, and are assisting with this investigation at the location, as is the Criminal Investigations Division.  The matter is ongoing.  More information to be provided as it becomes known.

Heavy Police Presence in Cannifton Road North – Update

Police are alerting motorists to the area that Cannifton Road from McColl Street to Latchford Street is currently closed for the above investigation.   An update will be provided when the area re-opens.
