The Belleville Police Service responded to 62 calls from May 23nd, 2021 at 5:00 a.m. to May 24rd, 2021 at 5:00 a.m.

Arrested on Warrants

Belleville ON - On May 23nd, 2021, shortly before 4:00 pm officer conducted a traffic stop in the west end of the city regarding a Highway Traffic Act violation.  Further Police investigation revealed that the 39-year-old female passenger was wanted on outstanding warrants. Barbara McPhee was taken into custody on the strength of the warrants for failing to attend court while being on a release order.  McPhee was transported to the Belleville Police Service where she will be held for a bail hearing scheduled on Monday May 24th, 2021 at Quinte Consolidated Courthouse.

Domestic Assault

Belleville ONOn the 23nd of May, 2021, responded to disturbance in the west end of the city.  Police spoke to the 37-year-old female victim who advised that a male well known to her assaulted her and threaten her prior to police arrival.  Police were able to locate the male a short time later where he was arrested for domestic assault in accordance with section 266 of the Criminal Code and for uttering a death threat in accordance with section 264.1(1) of the Criminal Code.  The male was transported to the Belleville Police Service where he will be held for a bail hearing scheduled for Monday May 24th, 2021 at Quinte Consolidate Courthouse.

City Police also report a steady 24-hour period ending at 5:00 a.m. on the 24rd of May 2021.  Police did respond to several incidents that ended peacefully with Police intervention. The majority of these incidents were regarding noise complaints related to fireworks due to the Victoria Day weekend.  Citizens were cooperative with police and all complaints were dealt with without further incidents.
