The Belleville Police Service responded to 62 calls for service from the 16th of May 2020 at 5:00 a.m. to the 17th of May 2020 at 5:00 a.m.

Dangerous Driving & Flight from Police

Belleville, ON – On the 16th of May 2020 at approx. 5:10 p.m. Police observed a vehicle traveling East bound on Dundas Street East at a high rate of speed. Police attempted to stop the fleeing motorist who continued to Point Ann Rd where the vehicle was involved in a single motor vehicle accident. The driver of the fleeing vehicle suffered only minor injuries and the vehicle sustained significant damage. A police investigation ensued resulting in the driver of the vehicle, 26-year-old Belleville resident Christian Tomas, being arrested and charged with Dangerous Driving and Flight from Police under the Criminal Code. He was released on an Undertaking where he was given a court date of July 16th 2020 to face the charges.

Utter Threats and Weapons Dangerous

Belleville, Ontario – On the 17th of May 2020 at 12:05 a.m. Police responded to the area of Village Drive regarding a disturbance. Police attended the area and conducted an investigation that revealed a male in the area was brandishing a knife and threatening a group of people. The suspect male was quickly located by Police in an area nearby. As a result of the investigation, 20-year-old Belleville male Jacob Smit was arrested and charged with Uttering Threats x2 and Weapons Dangerous. He was transported to the Belleville Police Service where he was released on an Undertaking with a Court date of July 16th 2020 to face the charges.
