Porch Pirates
Belleville, ON – On March 11th 2021 city police received a trio of thefts. The first call was reported at 10:02 a.m. in the Albert Street area. The victim reported receiving a confirmation from a photograph of merchandise which had been delivered to his home from a courier service. Upon returning to the home, the victim observed the property to be missing. Two packages containing Nintendo gaming systems and joy-sticks, red and blue in colour were missing. The value of the property is approximately $600.00. An investigation into the matter is continuing. Thefts
On March 11th 2021 at 10:29 a.m., police received a reported theft from a motor vehicle in the Bridge Street East area. The complainant advised police that some time between March 8th and March 11th unknown person(s) entered a vehicle, stealing a hunting knife and a brown leather purse. The glove-box within the vehicle had also been ransacked, and items strewn about the nearby property. On March 11th 2021 at 5:24 p.m., police received a reported theft from a common room at the Ramada by Wyndham on Bay Bridge Road. The complainant reported her back-pack stolen from a meeting room. Stunt Driver Terminated
Belleville, ON – On March 11th 2021 at 7:30 p.m., an officer with the Traffic Safety Unit was patrolling North Front Street. He observed a motor vehicle driving at an extremely fast speed, weaving in and out of traffic. The officer clocked the motor vehicle by speed-radar at travelling 110 km/hr in a posted 50 km/hr zone. Once stopped, the male driver, a 40-year old city man, had no explanation for his actions. He was issued a Highway Traffic Act part 3 summons for the offence of “drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – speeding by 50 km/hr or more.” The man had his driver’s licence seized for seven days, and his vehicle towed and impounded for seven days. He is to appear in provincial offences court on April 12th.
