The Belleville Police Service responded to 75 calls between June 4th 2020 at 05:00 a.m. and June 5th 2020 at 05:00 a.m.

 Attempt Arson – Arrest (Update)

Belleville, On - On the 10th of May 2020, at approximately 10:29 p.m., the Belleville Police Service attended a residential address in the west end of Belleville for a report of a possible arson.  Initial investigation determined that an unknown person threw a flammable substance onto the porch causing a fire which was extinguished by the homeowner. 

Members of the Belleville Police Service Criminal Investigations Division and the Forensic Identification Unit continued the investigation.  On the 3rd of June 2020, search warrants were executed at residences in Belleville and Quinte West and one on a motor vehicle.   

As a result of the investigation, Steven Seaborn, 23 years old of Quinte West was arrested and charged with:

  • Having under his care / control an improvised explosive device contrary to section 82(1) of the Criminal Code
  • Arson – Disregard for Human Life contrary to section 433(a) of the Criminal Code

Incident to arrest, Seaborn was found to be in possession of Methamphetamine and subsequently charged with one additional count of:

  • possession of a Schedule I substance contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. 

Seaborn was released on a Form 10 Undertaking with conditions and a court date in August 2020. 

Attempted Arson (Original Release)

Belleville, ON – On the 10th of May 2020, at approximately 10:29 p.m., officers attended a west location for a report of a possible attempted arson. After speaking to witnesses, it was determined that an unknown male threw a flammable item onto the porch of a residence causing a fire that was quickly extinguished by the home owner. Federal offender arrested

Belleville, ON – On June 4th 2020 at 8:17 p.m., police were called to the east end of the city to investigate an occurrence of a city man who was allegedly breaching a prohibition order.  The man was on strict conditions, including a condition to respect a curfew daily from 8:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.   An investigation led to the arrest of the man, and his parole was revoked.  Belleville resident Thomas Michael Boyle, 76 years of age, was taken into custody.  He was processed at police headquarters, and transported to a secure facility to await further disposition
