Belleville Police Service responded to 85 calls for service from the 01st of June 2020 at 5:00 a.m. to the 02nd of June 2020 at 5:00 a.m.

Domestic Assault

Belleville, ON – On the 1st of June shortly after 7:00 p.m. police were called to an East end residence with regards to a domestic. Investigation resulted in a 39-year-old Belleville resident being arrested for assault and breach of his probation. The male is being held in custody to appear for a show cause hearing via video before a Justice of the Peace on the 1st of June. There were no injuries as a result of the incident and the name of the accused is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.

Theft over $5000

Belleville, ON – On the 1st of June at approximately 10:30 p.m. police received a report of a theft from a North end restaurant where a staff room was entered and a large amount property including cell phones, clothing, car keys and a laptop were stolen. Police viewed video and began searching the area when one of the employees observed the suspect walking along College St. W. Police attended and arrested a 26-year-old female resident of Belleville for the theft. Subsequent investigation resulted in the recovery of almost all of the stolen property that was valued at over $5000. The female is being held for a show cause hearing via video before a Justice of the Peace on the 1st of June.

City Police also report a busy 24-hour period ending at 5:00 a.m. on June 2nd 2020.  Police did respond to several incidents that ended peacefully with Police intervention. Those incidents included numerous noise complaints, disturbances, domestics, suspicious persons and vehicles, traffic complaints, neighbour and family disputes, animal complaints, and calls to assist ambulance.
