The Belleville Police Service responded to 49 calls from June 13th, 2020 at 5:00 a.m. to June 14th, 2020 at 5:00 am.
House Fire – 2 Injured
Belleville, ON – On June 13th, 2020 at 8:00 a.m., city police along with Belleville Fire were dispatched to a house fire in the West end of the city. The estimated damage to the residence is not known yet but two people who were inside the structure received 3rd degree burns. Police investigation determined that the fire was not suspicious. City EMS was called to the scene and transported a male and female to Belleville General Hospital to be treated for their injuries.
Motor Vehicle Collision with Injuries
Belleville, ON – On June 13th, 2020 at 2:00 p.m., city police were called to the area of North Front St. and Valleyview Cres. regarding a two-motor vehicle collision involving some injuries. There were only two male drivers involved in the collision. Both vehicles were too damaged to be driven away and were removed by tow recovery.
An 83-year-old male was transported to Belleville General Hospital with unknown injuries and was subsequently charged for Failing to Yield to Oncoming Through Traffic contrary to the Ontario Highway Traffic Act.
Warrants
Belleville, ON – On June 14th, 2020, Belleville police arrested 37-year-old Peterborough resident, Nathan Jacobs on two outstanding warrants from a 2019 charge. Back on July 21st, 2019, city police came into contact with the accused who was subsequently charged with one count of Possession of a Schedule One Substance. The accused failed to show in person at his designated court appearance in Belleville. City police were unable to locate the accused locally and therefore, put out a warrant for his arrest.
On June 14th, 2020 at 12:30 a.m., Belleville Police were notified by the Peterborough Police Service that Nathan Jacobs was arrested in Peterborough on the Belleville warrants. Mr. Jacobs was turned over to the Belleville Police and is now scheduled to attend the Belleville Ontario Court of Justice on July 27th, 2020 to answer to his charges.
