The Belleville Police Service responded to 71 calls from the 8th of July 2021 at 5:00 a.m. to the 9th of July 2021 at 5:00 a.m.

Mischief, Theft from Motor Vehicle

Belleville, ON – On July 8th 2021 at 9:21 a.m., police were called to a Pine Street location for a report of a damaged motor vehicle.  An investigation revealed that during the previous ten hours, unknown suspect(s) slashed both driver-side front and rear tires, and busted all the windows.  Entry was then gained, and an amount of cash was stolen from the glove-box.  A scenes-of-crimes officer was dispatched to examine and collect any available evidence.  Police are also using video surveillance from a nearby location to assist.  The investigation into the matter is continuing, and police are asking anyone with information about this to please contact investigating officer Cst. Arrest Warrants Executed

Belleville, ON – On July 8th 2021 at 10:00 p.m., police were notified of the arrest of a man by the Quinte West O.P.P.  The man came into contact with the O.P.P. while involved in an investigation in Trenton.  Further investigation solidified the man was wanted by Belleville Police.

Belleville resident Paul Jon Dawson, 33-years of age, was arrested by city police on their outstanding warrants for criminal charges of: uttering threats (2 counts), failing to attend for fingerprinting, possession of a schedule 1 substance (cocaine), possession of a schedule 1 substance (methamphetamine), possession of property obtained by crime – under five thousand dollars, and failing to attend court.  He was released by police on an undertaking with strict conditions.  He is expected to appear in Belleville’s Ontario Court of Justice on September 9th 2021 at 9:00 a.m. on all charges.

Rowdiness Leads Man to Jail   

Belleville, ON – On July 8th 2021 at 11:38 p.m., police were called about a man causing a disturbance outside of an east-end apartment complex.  Police attempted numerous times to negotiate a peaceful resolution with the local man, who was calling 911, and non-emergency police dispatch.  Further, he was upsetting neighbours with his bellicose behaviour.  After cautioning him about his actions, the man continued.  He was then arrested, and taken into custody.  Charged with causing a disturbance by shouting, and mischief – obstructs, interrupts or interferes with any person in the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property is 50-year old Kevin Patrick Morin.  He was released on an undertaking with strict conditions, and he is expected to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on September 9th 2021 at 9:00 a.m.
