The Belleville Police Service responded to 72 calls for service from July 15th, 2020 at 5:00 a.m. to July 16th, 2020 at 5:00 a.m.
Business Break & Enter
Belleville, ON – On July 15th, 2020, police received a report of an attempt break and enter at a business on William Street over the previous evening. The suspect(s) threw a large rock through the front window of the business. It did not appear that anything was taken out of the business. Approximate damage to the business window is $1000. Disturbance at Local Business
Belleville, ON – On July 15th, 2020 at approximately 9:30am, city police dispatch received a call from a business on Bridge Street West regarding a woman entering the store without a mask. Store employees challenged the lady for not wearing a mask at which point she became aggressive and began running up and down the isles spitting on products and coughing out loudly. Officers arrived shortly after receiving the call and took the female into custody. The 38-year-old Belleville woman was charged for Engaging in Unlawful Activity on the Premises and was removed from the business and trespassed.
Business Break & Enter Through Roof
Belleville, ON – On July 15th, 2020 at approximately 11am, city police attended a Sidney Street north end business where suspects attempted to break into the establishment through the roof. Employees noticed some debris on the floor and notified the police. Officers confirmed that an attempt was made through the roof but appeared that no entry was gained. The damage amount was not available at the time.

Motor Vehicle Collision
Belleville, ON – On July 15th, 2020 at approximately 4pm, city police received a report of a two-vehicle collision on North Front Street at Grove Street. Both vehicles involved sustained substantial damage however, no one in the vehicles were reporting any injuries. Both vehicles had to be removed via recovery tow.
A 36-year-old Belleville woman was charged with the following traffic offences;
- Driving While under Suspension
- Driving with No Insurance
- Turn Not in Safety
- Plates Not Authorized for Vehicle
The female driver’s vehicle was seized by police and she was issued with four summonses to attend the Ontario Provincial Offences Court scheduled for August 10th, 2020 to answer to her charges.
Warrants
Belleville, ON – On July 16th, 2020 at approximately 12:15am, two city officers observed a vehicle on Farnham Road being operated by a male who was known to them to have an outstanding warrant. The officers initiated a traffic stop on Farnham Road and took the driver into custody.
A 31-year-old Deseronto man is facing three counts of breaching his probation. He is being held at the Belleville Police Service and will be attending a Show Cause Hearing later today before a Justice to answer to his charges.
Domestic Assault
Belleville, ON – On July 16th, 2020 at approximately 1am, city police attended a south west end residence regarding a domestic assault. Upon arrival, officers met the female victim involved whom officers observed to have substantial injuries. Police met the victim at a neighbour’s residence. Police had City EMS attend the scene to treat the female victim.
The officers attended the residence where the assault took place and took a 34-year-old man into custody for Assault Causing Bodily Harm. The accused was taken to the Belleville Police Service and was held in custody and will appear later today in front of a Justice at a Show Cause Hearing to answer to his charge.
The name of the accused will not be released to protect the identity of the victim in this matter.
