The Belleville Police Service responded to 66 calls for service from January 20th, 2021 at 5:00 a.m. to January 21st, 2021 at 5:00 a.m.

Stolen Monstrance from a Local Church - LOCATED

Belleville, ON – On the 20th of January 2021 at 7:15 p.m. Police attended the area of the Church, on Church Street, where the Monstrance was stolen from; to once again search for the Monstrance in hopes it was returned by the suspect. Upon arrival, Police conducted a search and located the Monstrance, hidden in an area that was previously searched by Police. The Monstrance was returned to the Father of the Church, who was grateful for its return.

Impaired Operation

Belleville, ON – On the 20th of January 2021, Police attended the area of Cannifton Rd. North for a Fail to Remain motor vehicle collision. Police attended an address where the suspect drove his vehicle into a house and fled the area on foot. Police conducted an investigation and the driver was located nearby. The investigation revealed the male was impaired by alcohol and was also prohibited from operating a motor vehicle.  The 49-year-old Belleville man, Scott Currie, was arrested for Impaired Operation, Operation While Prohibited and was transported to the Belleville Police Service where he then refused to comply with a breath demand.  The male was charged with the following offences: Operation while impaired, Operation while Prohibited, Refuse to provide a breath sample and Fail to remain. He is to be released when sober on an Undertaking with a Court date of February 25th 2020 to face the charges.

Arrested on Warrant

Belleville, ON – On the 20th of January 2021 at 11:00 p.m. Police received information from Kingston Police that they had a male in custody who was wanted on a warrant out of Belleville. The warrant, for Failing to Attend for Fingerprints, was confirmed and officers from the Belleville Police Service met with officers from the Kingston Police Service and took the male into custody on the strength of the warrant. The male was transported to the Belleville Police Service where he is being held for bail.

Mischief Charge

Belleville, ON - On the 20th of January 2021 at 7:48 p.m. Police received a complaint of a male causing damage to a vehicle in the area of Coleman St. Officers checked the area and quickly located the suspect, a 39-year-old Belleville male. The male was further found to be wanted on a warrant from Lennox & Addington OPP. The suspect was charged with mischief and released on an Undertaking with a February 25th, 2020 court date in relation to the mischief charge. He was then turned over to the OPP to deal with the outstanding warrant.

City Police also report a fairly steady 24-hour period ending at 5:00 a.m. on January 21st 2021.  Police did respond to several incidents that ended peacefully with Police intervention. Those incidents included numerous noise complaints, disturbances, domestics, suspicious persons and vehicles, traffic complaints, neighbour and family disputes, animal complaints, and calls to assist ambulance.
