The Belleville Police Service responded to 40 calls for service from December 26th, 2020 at 5:00 a.m. to December 27th, 2020 at 5:00 a.m.
Obstruct Police & Breach of Undertaking Charges
Belleville, ON – On the 27th of December 2020 at 12:30 a.m. Police conducted a traffic stop in the area of Old Hwy 2 East, Belleville. An investigation ensued that resulted in the arrest of a 36-year-old Kingston male, Randy Vankoughnett, for Breaching his Undertaking and Obstructing Police. As a result, Mr. Vankoughnett was transported to the Belleville Police Service where he was later released on an Undertaking and given a court date of January 21st, 2020 to face the charges.
Careless Driving Charges
Belleville, ON – On the 26th of December 2020 at 9:20 p.m. Police, while on Uniform Patrol, observed two vehicles traveling South Bound on North Front Street that were racing each other. Police were successful in safely stopping both motor vehicles, resulting in Careless Driving charges for a 25-year-old Belleville male and a 19-year-old Prince Edward County male. Both drivers were issued Provincial Offences Notices for Careless Driving under the Highway Traffic Act.
City Police also report a fairly steady 24-hour period ending at 5:00 a.m. on December 27th 2020. Police did respond to several incidents that ended peacefully with Police intervention. Those incidents included numerous noise complaints, disturbances, domestics, suspicious persons and vehicles, traffic complaints, neighbour and family disputes, and calls to assist ambulance.
