Bail Violation

Belleville, ON – On December 21st 2020 at 8:06 a.m., police were called to an east-end residence for a disturbance.  After calming the situation, and ensuring the safety of others, police arrested and charged a 27-year old city man with one count of failing to comply with a condition on his undertaking from a previous release earlier in the year.  The man was taken into custody, and transported to the Belleville Police Service.  He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on December 22nd for a bail hearing.  Police are not releasing his name in order to protect the identity of an involved victim.

Transport Collision Fatality

Belleville, ON – On December 21st 2020 at 1:46 p.m., police attended with paramedics and Belleville Fire for a transport that hit a home on Old Highway 2, east of Mitchell Road.  The transport driver, a 59-year old male from Nobleton, Ontario was transported to Belleville Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.  The home sustained major damage, but luckily nobody else was injured.  Old Highway 2 was closed for seven hours while officers conducted collision reconstruction.   The investigation is continuing.  Any witnesses to this are asked to please contact investigating officer Cst. Local Man Arrested in Arson

Belleville, ON – On December 21st 2020 at 7:54 p.m., police were called to a storage lot on Herchimer Avenue regarding a suspicious man.  Police met with Belleville Fire who were already at the location.  A man was observed to be walking around inside of a unit which was fully engulfed in flames from a motor vehicle which had been on fire inside the unit.  No injuries were reported, and the fire was extinguished. Police arrested the 41-year old city man for the offences of arson and obstructing police.  He was transported to the Belleville Police Service where he was processed.  Members of the Forensic Identification Section and the Criminal Investigations Division were called in to assist in the matter.  Although the man was released from custody without charge, the investigation is continuing.  Police are asking anyone who may have information about this to please contact Det.-Cst.
