The Belleville Police Service responded to 50 calls for service between April 10th, 2020 at 5:00 a.m. and April11th, 2020 at 5:00 a.m.

Motor Vehicle Collision Involving a Motorcycle

Belleville, ON – On April 10th, 2020 at 3:50 p.m. police attended on Zion Road in Thurlow Ward regarding a single vehicle collision involving a motorcycle. The investigation revealed that the rider lost control and was thrown clear of the motorcycle. He was not wearing a helmet but was fortunate to land in the soft ditch. The 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle did not fare as well as it was demolished. The rider was taken to BGH for treatment of minor injuries. The 57-year-old Belleville man was charged with careless driving and driving with an improper class of a driver’s licence. He was cautioned with failing to wear a helmet.

Domestic Assault Investigation

Belleville, ON – On April 10th, 2020 at 3:55 p.m. police attended at a domestic disturbance in Thurlow Ward. Several witnesses were on scene who had stopped to render assistance to the victim. Both witnesses and the victim had been assaulted but did not require medical attention. The suspect had fled on foot prior to police arrival. An arrest warrant is being sought for a 23-year-old Belleville man on the following charges:

Traffic Enforcement

Belleville, ON – On April 10th, 2020 at 11:04 a.m. an officer conducted a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle on Moira Street East. The driver was also a suspended driver. The 36-year-old driver was charged with speeding – 70 km/h in a 40 km/h zone and driving while under suspension. He will appear in Traffic Court on June 1st, 2020.

On April 10th, 2020 at 8:08 p.m. an officer conducted a traffic stop on West Moira Street. The 42-year-old driver was confirmed to be a suspended driver. He will appear in Traffic Court on July 6th, 2020 on a charge of driving while under suspension.

Arrested on Warrants

Belleville, ON – On April 10th, 2020 at 9:51 p.m. an officer recognized a male on Tracey Park Drive who was wanted on outstanding warrants. 24-year-old Joseph Michael McDonald of Belleville was arrested without incident.  He was released with a court date of June 11th, 2020. His charges include theft under $5000. and four counts of breach of probation.
