Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 113 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on May 31, 2023 to 5:00 am on June 01, 2023.

 

Mischief

On 31 May 2023 at 9:30 am police received a call regarding a mischief at a business On College St East.  It was reported that a male had smashed out the windows of a vehicle that was parked on the property.

The male fled the scene when he was observed by employees but was located a short time later by police. He was arrested and charged with mischief.  The 32-year-old male of no fixed address was held for a bail hearing.

 

Drug Offences and Obstruct Police

On 31 May 2023 at 10:30 pm police responded to a disturbance call on Moira St West where it was reported that several people were assaulting a male with a baseball bat. When police arrived, they learned that one of the combatants had fled in a vehicle. The vehicle was located and stopped a short time later. The driver of the vehicle was the suspect involved in the disturbance.  A records check revealed that he was a suspended driver.  Subsequently, he was arrested for driving while suspended.   While being searched, police discovered controlled substances.  A further search of the vehicle revealed more controlled substances, scales and a quantity of cash.  As a result, the 25-year-old Belleville resident was charged with obstruct police, possession of controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking, drive while suspended and drive motor vehicle with open liquor. He was held for a bail hearing.
