Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 108 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on May 10, 2023 to 5:00 am on May 11, 2023.

 

Vehicle Break-In, Tools Stolen - Arrest

On the 10th of May 2023 at 7:50 am, Belleville Police attended an address on Dundas Street East where a vehicle had been broken into.  The suspect smashed out a vehicle window and stole numerous power tools.  Later in the day, officers were able to identify, locate and arrest the suspect.  Some of the tools were recovered.

Nicholas Semple, 27 years old of No Fixed Address was charged with possession of property obtained by crime and breach of probation.  He was released on an Undertaking with a court date in June 2023.

 

Residential Break and Enter, Mischief and Breach of Probation – Arrest

On the 10th of May 2023 at 11:15 am, Belleville Police responded to a George St address where the home owner reported that a male had just kicked in and broke the gate on his backyard fence.  When confronted, the suspect fled the area on foot.  A description of the suspect was provided to police.  Police searched the area are were able to locate him. 

While speaking to the suspect, police were approached by a female who also lived in the area.  The female reported that her son was home when he came out of the bathroom and observed the male that police were speaking with, actually inside their house.  The suspect was in the process of gathering items to steal.  When the suspect was discovered in the house, he fled on foot. 

A third nearby resident also approached police and advised that they witnessed the same suspect breaking into another residence but fled when they were spotted by neighbours. 

As a result of the investigation and assistance from the public, a 30-year-old male of No Fixed Address was arrested and charged with Mischief, two counts of Break and Enter and breach of probation.  He was held for a bail hearing.
