Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 156 calls for service over the weekend beginning at 5:00 am on the 6th of May, 2023 to 5:00 am on the 8th of May, 2023.

Theft & Warrants

On May 6, 2023, at 3:30 pm, Belleville Police observed a male known to them and who had outstanding warrants before the court.  The accused was observed on Centre Street in the north/east end of Belleville and was taken into custody without incident.  Further investigation revealed that the accused also had outstanding warrants with the Ontario Provincial Police. 

The accused, thirty-nine-year-old, Jonathan Daynard of Belleville was charged with theft over $5000 in relation to the Belleville warrants and was held for a show cause hearing.  The accused was remanded into custody on all warrants and will appear in court on May 8th, 2023 to answer all charges. 

Break & Enter, Possess Stolen Property

On May 7, 2023, at 8:10 am, the Belleville Police were dispatched to an apartment building on North Front Street regarding a break & enter.  Officers found damage at a break in point and damage in other parts of the building offices.  Police were able to observe security video footage of the incident and observed the suspect enter the secured building and remove some property.  The suspect was identified as he was known to both officers.    

At 9:10 am, police observed the suspect of the break and enter at the intersection of Pinnacle Street and Station Street.  The accused was arrested for the break and enter.  Police found stolen property from the break and enter on the accused. 

The accused, a thirty-seven-year-old Belleville man, was charged with break and enter and possession of stolen property.  He was held for a show cause hearing scheduled for May 8, 2023.
