Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 103 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on April 26, 2023 to 5:00 am on April 27, 2023.

 

Theft

A 39-year-old Toronto man was arrested by officers following a report of theft of copper wire, Wednesday.

Around 4 p.m. police were called to a north end retail business for a report of someone attempting to remove the wire. As officers arrived, one of the males attempted to flee by running over the 401 overpass. He was arrested a short distance away from the scene.

The male was charged with Theft Over $5,000, Failing to Comply with Probation Order, Obstructing Police and held for a bail hearing.

 

Home Invasion

Police were called to a report of a home invasion in progress shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday.

A woman inside the residence, which was located in the city’s west end, sustained injuries during the incident and was taken to Belleville hospital for treatment.

Officers arrived and were advised two men had fled on foot. A suspect was arrested a short time later.

The Belleville Police K9 unit and the Emergency Response Unit were called in to complete a search but were unable to locate the second suspect.

A 29-year-old Toronto man is in police custody facing numerous charges and a bail hearing later today.
