Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 97 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on the 22^nd of June, 2022, to 5:00 am on the 23^rd of June, 2022.

 Fraud

On the 21^st of June 2022 at 4:48 pm, Belleville Police attended an address in the east end in regards to a fraud. An unidentified person contacted an elderly citizen and advised them that they were a lawyer. They further said their grandson had been arrested and needed 8000.00 dollars to bail him out. The male attended the residence and collected the money. This incident is still under investigation.

There have been several complaints regarding this scam over the last few days. Belleville Police want to warn the public that these scammers will prey on people’s emotions. Belleville Police urge people to question anyone demanding money or personal information. If a person claims to be from a police service, you can call the service directly to confirm the situation. Police will never contact you or attend your residence to demand or collect money. Break and Enter

On the 22^nd of June 2022 at 6:31 pm, Belleville Police attended an address off Maitland Drive, Belleville, Ontario, regarding a break and enter. Between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm, an unknown person entered the residence. The suspect stole two purses worth 15000.00 dollars, a 14000.00 dollar watch and 3000.00 dollars in cash. The suspect was observed leaving the residence by neighbours carrying a duffle bag. The investigation is continuing.
