Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 79 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on the 21^st of June, 2022, to 5:00 am on the 22^nd of June, 2022.

Ontario Women in Law Enforcement

 On the 9^th of June, 2022, the Ontario Women in Law Enforcement (OWLE) held its Major Awards and Long Service Awards Gala in Mississauga, Ontario. The annual event has been held since 1999 and commemorates women sworn and civilian, celebrating milestones in law enforcement. The Belleville Police Service would like to recognize Inspector Sheri Meeks, Constable Monique Waite, Detective Constable Ann Earle-Dempsey, Joanne Zimmerman and Laura Fernandes, who received their 25 years of service award. Congratulations to these brave and accomplished women on their outstanding achievements in Law Enforcement. We at the Belleville Police Service are incredibly proud of the excellent work female members do to keep the community of Belleville safe.

Arrest on Warrants

On the 21^st of June 2022, at 5:30 pm, Belleville Police were called to the Quinte Mall regarding a shoplifter. Store security had stopped a twenty-eight-year-old male Belleville, Ontario resident for trespassing. While investigating the trespassing, security found the male to be in possession of stolen property. Police attended and continued the Investigation. A further check revealed that the male had warrants for his arrest by the Belleville Police. The male was wanted for seven counts of breach of probation and one Count of theft under. As a result of the Quinte Mall occurrence, he was further charged with two more counts of theft under 5000.00 dollars and held for a bail hearing on the 22^nd of June, 2022.

Child Pornography Charges

The Belleville Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit, with assistance from the Belleville Police Service Tech Crime Unit, Forensic Identification Unit and Emergency Response Unit, executed a Criminal Code search warrant on the 16^th of June 2022 at a west end residence in the City of Belleville.  Police received information beginning in April 2022 concerning illegal material being distributed online through a social media platform.  Police began an investigation which led to the execution of the search warrant.  As a result of the continued investigation, thirty-nine-year-old Stephen Ladouceur of Belleville was arrested on June 21, 2022, for two counts of Possession of Child Pornography, one count of Accessing Child Pornography and one count of Making Available Child Pornography.  Ladouceur was released on conditions with a court date of August 18th, 2022.
