On the 20th of June 2022, at 12:30 pm, a Belleville Police officer on general patrol stopped a vehicle in the area of North Front Street and Donald Street in Belleville, Ontario. A check of the driver confirmed that he was a suspended driver and had been charged the previous day with driving under suspension. As a result, a twenty-six-year-old Belleville, Ontario resident was charged for the second time in as many days for driving while under suspension and given an August 8th, 2022, traffic court date.
Assault/Resist Arrest/Mischief
On the 20th of June 2022, at 8:15 pm, Belleville Police were called to an east-end intersection regarding a disturbance. Officers arrived on the scene and learned that two males had been involved in a fight with a tire iron. Both parties suffered minor injuries, and a vehicle was damaged. While officers were attempting to arrest one of the males, he resisted. At the same time, while officers were trying to arrest the male, a female intervened and assaulted one of the officers and then resisted officers when they tried to arrest her. The involved officer suffered only minor injuries during the incident. As a result, a fifty-nine-year-old male of no fixed address was charged with Assault, Mischief under $5000 and resisting a peace officer. He was held for a bail hearing on the 21st of June 2022. In addition, fifty-three-year-old Stephanie Zakos of Belleville, Ontario, was charged with assaulting a peace officer and resisting a peace officer. She was released with a July 28th court date.
