Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 80 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on the 11th of May, 2022 to 5:00 am on the Catalytic Converter Thefts On January 19th, 2022 Belleville Police Service attended a business in the east end of the City regarding an incident where two catalytic converters were removed from two vehicles. Video evidence was gathered at the scene however the identity of the suspect remained unknown. The investigation was transferred to the Belleville Police Service Criminal Investigation Division. Investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division identified a suspect for the thefts and on May 4th, 2022 a warrant for Matthew Brant, a thirty-nine-year-old male from Deseronto, Ontario was issued by the Ontario Court of Justice for: 2 counts of Theft Under $5000 s.334(b) CC 2 counts of Mischief Under $5000 s. 430(1)(a) CC 2 counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order s. 733.1(1) CC On May 11th, 2022 at 8:24 am Matthew Brant attended the Belleville Police Service and turned himself in on the outstanding warrant. Brant was taken into custody and held for a show cause hearing. Disturbance On May 11th, 2022 at 6:19 pm, police were called to Victoria Park regarding a disturbance. Information was initially received that a male was attacking people in the park. Officers arrived on the scene and were directed to the male who was causing problems. After a brief conversation with the male, it was apparent that he was intoxicated and as a result was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place in accordance with section 31(1)(a) of the Liquor Licence and Control Act. The forty-four-year-old male, of no fixed address, was transported to Belleville Police Service and lodged in cells until he was sober. Project RENEWAL On the 11th of May, 2022 as a result of a Drug Trafficking investigation in the city of Belleville. Members of Project Renewal with the assistance of the Belleville Police Service Emergency Response Team and K9 Unit executed a search warrant at a residence located on Mary Street.
